Tapestry The Joust evoking the great royal jousts of the 12th century.
The first tournaments are attributed to Geoffroy de Preuilly circa 1000. Yet, it is only during the 12th century that they became very popular. Gathered around the royal familiy, the court attends those jousts. The tournaments give the nobility the opportunity to stand up for their banners and show their bravery. Accompnied with banquets and dances, these tournaments represent all the medieval characters.
This tapestry "The joust" in jacquard weaving is woven and made in France by Jules Pansu's factory located in Flanders in Halluin.
